Working from home requires attention and consideration, and a real appreciation for the way we are managing our professional lives and communities. Using the mute button wouldn’t hurt either.
There are some things that it feels like we shouldn’t need to say. For example, everyone should wash their hands regularly and cover their mouths when they sneeze. Other expectations are perhaps a bit less obvious, especially now was are in a new world of social distancing (yes you should wear face masks, no you shouldn’t shake hands). But just when you think common sense is starting to prevail and the new rules of working at home, dining at home, and everything-ing at home are becoming mainstream, something reminds you that there are still some things that need to be said.
For example, always make sure to mute your phone when you are flushing a toilet during a conference call – especially if that call is with the Supreme Court of the United States.
The unexpected flush occurred Wednesday during a conference call in which the Justices were listening to oral arguments involving the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. In the midst of an argument being made by attorney Ramon Martinez there was the distinct sound of a flushing toilet.
