The firings of multiple Inspectors General is unprecedented; doing sowithout good cause chills the independence essential to their purpose. It is a threat to accountable democracy and a fissure in the constitutional balance of power.
The remarks come a day after US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi berated Trump for dismissing State Department Inspector General Steve Linick, slamming the move as part of a « dangerous pattern of retaliation ».
