Suga From BTS Is Just The Fourth Korean Soloist To Reach The Hot 100

It’s still pretty rare for any South Korean musician to appear on the list, and it’s especially uncommon for any name from the country that isn’t BTS.
As his new surprise (well, sort of surprise) mixtape D-2 debuts at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the Top Album Sales (making it the second-bestselling title in the country this week), one track from the set makes its way to the Hot 100. It’s still pretty rare for any South Korean musician to appear on the list, and it’s especially uncommon for any name from the country that isn’t BTS.
Suga, operating under his Agust D moniker (which he has now used twice to release full-length mixtapes), starts his new cut “Daechwita” at No. 76 on this week’s Hot 100, earning his first placement on the important tally in the process.
