MTA Threatens 40% Service Cuts Without Urgent Federal Aid

« Without federal funding, public transit in New York won’t survive,” a new ad campaign says.
New York City’s Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) warned at a special board meeting Wednesday that it faces a 40% service cut, significant job losses and fare and toll increases if it does not get $12 billion in federal aid to help weather the worst financial crisis in its 52-year history. The MTA on Wednesday also announced new digital ads for its #SaveTransit campaign which will be distributed on social media and on subways, busses and bus awnings throughout the system.
