Samsung Confirms Galaxy S20 Will Get Android 11 First, Clarifies OS Update Promise

Samsung releases a list of all its products that qualify for the three-generations of OS upgrades guarantee, and confirms Galaxy S20 owners get Android 11 this year.
At Samsung’s Unpacked event earlier this month, the Korean tech giant showed off a half dozen new products including the Samsung Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Tab S7, Galaxy Buds Live, Galaxy Watch 3, and upcoming Galaxy Z Fold2. But buried in all the product announcements, Samsung made a commitment to its customers to provide updates to its Galaxy lineup for three generations. Few details were provided at the time and many questioned exactly what three generations meant. While most assumed it referred to Android OS upgrades, others speculated it may simply be OneUI or security updates. After a few weeks of speculation, Samsung went online to clarify its commitment. The company will offer three generations of Android upgrades for most of its Galaxy flagship and midrange lineup. The list of supported devices includes all Samsung Galaxy S20 and Note 20 devices, all Galaxy Foldables, as well as future products in the series. The forthcoming Galaxy Tab S7 and last year’s Tab S6 lineup, along with future Tab S products, are also on the list. Even a handful of its Galaxy A-series phones including the A71, A51, A90, and select upcoming A-series devices will make the cut.
