The decision to close Treasure Coast schools Monday followed a forecast of tropical storm wind gusts and showers expected into Monday.
As Tropical Storm Eta plowed into the Florida Straits Sunday, officials in Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River County school districts announced all schools will be closed Monday. “With careful consideration for the safety of our students, employees and families, and out of an abundance of caution related to Tropical Storm Eta, the decision has been made to close all District-operated schools and offices on Monday,” Martin County district officials stated in a release. The cancellation applies to all learning formats, including traditional in-person and remote learning at home.
