Jan.12 (UPI) — The Joint Chiefs of Staff released a memo Tuesday calling last week’s events in Washington, D.C. « a direct assault on the U.S. Congress, the Capitol building, and our Constitutional process. » « We witnessed actions inside the Capitol building that were inconsistent with the rule of law, » said the memo, which has been reported on by multiple media outlets and circulated on social media. « The rights of freedom of speech and assembly do not give anyone the right to resort to violence, sedition and insurrection, » the Joint Chiefs wrote.
