OnePlus Band is the first smart wearable from OnePlus. It comes with a 1.1-inch display and features
OnePlus has long been rumoured to foray into the fitness wearables space, and today the company finally made the move as it launched its first product in the category in the form of the OnePlus Band. While not exactly the smartwatch we all were expecting, the OnePlus Band is definitely a welcome start and possibly even the product that sets the stage for the much-rumoured smartwatch from the company. However, while the latter remains a distant possibility, for now, we have with us the OnePlus Band which with its companion, the OnePlus Health app, is a peek into the future of smart wearables from the company. The device comes with interesting features such as SpO2 and customisable faces. Interestingly, the device has been priced quite aggressively and at Rs 2,499, it goes up against the Xiaomi Mi Band 5. In terms of the design, this new Band from OnePlus is very much like what we’ve seen in the past from a lot of other device makers. In fact, it shares a lot with an existing smart band from Oppo that was launched in China by the company last year. While the Oppo device was never launched in India, it appears OnePlus decided to re-do the product a little and bring it to India as the OnePlus Band. In my view that’s not a bad move, especially considering the Oppo Band doesn’t look likely to be launched in India in the future also. In isolation, the OnePlus Band is a good-looking product one that looks every rupee, and probably even more, the price that’s being asked for it by the company. It comes with the main console which can be placed inside detachable straps available in three colours — Navy, Tangerine Gray, and Black. The strap itself is made out of silicone and is easy to put on and take off. The build quality is good and clubbed with the main console, the OnePlus Band feels quite lightweight at 23 grams. The lightweight nature of the device ensures that it can be worn for long hours without actually being a burden on your wrist.
