President-elect Joe Biden will start his term to “signal a turning point” for the state of affairs in America, a New York Times article suggests. This comes at no surprise. Because Biden’s running platform has stood at stark contrast with the Trump administration’s stance, both on ideological and policy levels. Towering Biden-Trump Differences Prompt Radical Change On Covid-19: Biden will push for mandatory mask-wearing policy across the country. Trump left it up to states and localities. Biden expressed interest to invest at least $25B in Covid-19 vaccination program. In comparison, Trump committed just over $10B. On healthcare, disagreements persist. While Biden has bolstered the Affordable Care Act, Trump undermined the same in a 2017 executive order. On Race, Diversity And Inclusion: Biden’s cabinet appointments reflect America’s diversity. Trump’s advisors had fewer Black Americans. Concerning policing, Biden plans increased oversight of policy departments with a record of civil rights violations. Biden will also address racial economic disparities: creation of fair-lending and fair-housing protections and extending $300M to decrease discriminatory zoning regulations. He is also motivated to study the issue of reparations to descendants of slaves.
