Outdoor venues can begin hosting live concerts at 20% capacity in April as well.
The New York Yankees and Mets will be permitted to start the 2021 season with fans in the stands, up to a maximum of 20% capacity, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) announced Thursday, the latest municipality to declare that spectators will be able to attend sporting events, subject to strict guidelines. Last season, MLB’s regular season was shortened from 162 games down to just 60 due to the pandemic, and fans were banned entirely from all regular-season games. Each franchise has indicated they plan to welcome attendees into their ballparks this year, with most clubs allowing somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-30% capacity, with the Texas Rangers being the exception.
