‘The statute’s pretty clear’: Harvey Weinstein has 30 days to convince Cuomo or a judge to let him stay in NY — or it’s off to LA for rape trial

Weinstein should be transferred to L.A. by May 30 “unless there’s a challenge or unless (his lawyers) provide something from the governor that says, ‘I disapprove of this transfer,’” said Assistant District Attorney Colleen Curtin Gable at a virtual hearing held in Erie County Court.
Harvey Weinstein has 30 days to persuade a judge or Gov. Cuomo to let him stay in New York before the clock runs out and he’s extradited to California for trial on rape and sex assault charges. Weinstein should be transferred to Los Angeles by May 30 “unless there’s a challenge or unless (his lawyers) provide something from the governor that says, ‘I disapprove of this transfer,’” said Assistant District Attorney Colleen Curtin Gable at a virtual hearing held in Erie County Court. “Otherwise the statute’s pretty clear as to what’s supposed to happen here.” A Los Angeles grand jury indicted Weinstein March on 11 felony counts that run the gamut from forcible oral copulation to sexual battery by restraint and rape.
