The old friend’s name is MetLife Stadium, and everyone longs to see her again. A Big Blue army chanting Dee-Fense again… a green-and-white chorus singing J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS again … this is the dream, this has been the dream for what seems like an eternity after COVID held football fans hostage through the 2020 NFL fall and winter. The release of the NFL schedule on Wednesday night only makes the Giants fan and the Jets fan hunger even more for the return of the good old days and nights — with fingers crossed New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy’s promising outlook for a Week 1 full stadium is not any pipe dream. Jackson, N.J.’s Sean Logan,48, has been a Giants season-ticket holder since 1991 at Giants Stadium. His favorite player was Phil Simms. His four seats now are in Section 302 in the end zone, Row 13, seats 5-8. “It’s time to get back to living,” Logan said. His Giants will open the season at MetLife on Sunday, Sept.12 at 4:25 p.m. against the Broncos. Logan has been at every Opening Day for the last 28 years. “One of my thoughts on it, it depends on where Aaron Rodgers is gonna land,” Logan said. “The Giants can beat the Broncos handily with the roster that they have.” Sheepshead Bay High School grad Ira Lieberfarb — better known from talk radio circles as Ira From Staten Island — turned 67 on Tuesday. His two seats are in Section 313, Row 3. seats 3 and 4 — the 45-yard line behind the Jets bench. His uncle first bought season tickets at Shea Stadium in 1974. Matt Snell sparked his Jets addiction. “But Namath kinda put the cherry on top,” Lieberfarb said. “I’ll throw in Don Maynard.” His Jets will open the season Sunday, Sept.12 at Carolina, which could very well mean his new quarterback, Zach Wilson, versus his old quarterback, Sam Darnold.
