Now that kids ages 12-15 can get the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, here’s where you can go to get them immunized in Michigan. Keep in mind that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is the only type authorized so far for use people younger than 18 in the United States, and a parent or guardian must be present when kids get their shots. Here’s how to get children vaccinated: ASCENSION MICHIGAN: All Ascension Michigan community vaccination clinics are now offering self-scheduling vaccine appointments and are also accepting walk-ins. For details, go to https://healthcare.ascension.org/COVID-19/vaccinations and choose « Michigan » to search for appointments near you. For kids ages 12-17, select the Pfizer vaccine when setting up an appointment, as some clinic sites may be administering vaccines other than Pfizer. Locations with the Pfizer vaccine include: BEAUMONT HEALTH: Appointments can be made by calling 800-592-4784 or online through its myBeaumontchart patient portal or by walking in at any of the following locations: DETROIT MEDICAL CENTER: Parents or guardians who are interested in scheduling their child for the COVID-19 vaccine can call 313-263-3337 or visit the DMC Children’s Hospital website at childrensdmc.org/ to make an appointment. HENRY FORD HEALTH SYSTEM: Vaccines for children ages 12-15 will be available starting as soon as Saturday at its mass vaccine sites. Appointments can be made online at henryford.com/vaccine. No online patient MyChart portal is required. IHA MEDICAL GROUP: A subsidiary of the St. Joseph Mercy Health System and a member of Trinity Health, the IHA will open up vaccine appointments for children 12-15 at its pediatric offices.
