Texas, Oklahoma Take First Official Steps Away From Big 12 And Toward SEC

Texas and Oklahoma both rank among the most valuable college programs in the country, according to Forbes, with each university generating more than $125 million in annual revenue.
The University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas formally notified Big 12 conference officials Monday they would not extend their existing media rights agreement past 2025, a move that is expected to clear the way for both schools to exit the Big 12 to join the Southeastern Conference, while significantly shaking up major college athletics in the process. « Providing notice to the Big 12 at this point is important in advance of the expiration of the conference’s current media rights agreement, » the joint statement read. « The universities intend to honor their existing grant of rights agreements.
