Angry NYC residents react to Cuomo’s rejection of harassment charges by 11 women: ‘I think he should step down’

Cuomo constituents why government dodged criminal charges after harassment report
Gov. Cuomo’s defiant denial of multiple sexual harassment charges Tuesday fell on the deaf ears of unconvinced city constituents. “I think he should step down,” said Zanni Watkins,29, a Tribeca jewelry maker. “At the beginning of this pandemic, I was really rooting for him, like I think a lot of us were… I think it’s hypocritical of him not to step down,” Watkins said. “He’s acted like such an advocate for women before. I think it’s really a disappointment.” Cuomo, the father of three daughters, insisted on his innocence despite allegations of harassment involving 11 women. But state Attorney General Letitia James, who prepared the detailed 165-page report, announced she was not referring the allegations against Cuomo to prosecutors. “I was surprised that he wasn’t charged,” said Chris Beirne,52, a utility worker from Yonkers, before Cuomo’s televised response to the damning report.
