A congressional committee investigating the deadly Capitol Hill riot that took place Jan.6 is seeking records from a number of tech companies, including Facebook, Twitter and Google. The House select committee is asking the companies for records « related to the spread of misinformation, efforts to overturn the 2020 election or prevent the certification of the results, domestic violent extremism, and foreign influence in the 2020 election, » according to a Friday press release from the group. The committee is also asking the companies for information about any policy changes made to address misinformation, posts condoning violent extremism, and other offensive content.
