The podcaster said he had taken a « kitchen sink » of medicines to treat COVID, including the livestock anti-parasitic that officials have warned against.
Joe Rogan, host of the popular podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, announced via an Instagram video on Wednesday that he has tested positive for COVID. In the short video, the podcaster listed medicines he had used to combat the virus and its effects. Among them was the controversial drug ivermectin, which is conventionally used as an anti-parasitic for livestock and horses. Both the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention ( CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration ( FDA) have warned against taking the livestock treatment to treat COVID. Several people have been hospitalized in the U. S after taking doses intended for animals as large as a ton. The FDA says that ivermectin has repeatedly been shown to be ineffective as a COVID treatment, and toxicologists have expressed concern regarding a surge in the use of the livestock anti-parasitic. In the Instagram post, Rogan describes coming home from his Joe Rogan: The Sacred Clown Tour on Saturday evening and experiencing common COVID symptoms such as a headache, fever, and fatigue.
