From the 6A ranks to the 1A ranks, excellent plays and players were aplenty
Each week the Deseret News collects high school football stats from around the state, with approximately 85% of the coaches submitting their offensive and defensive stats. Here’s a look back at some headliner performances from Week 6 (you can also check out the Deseret News’ complete sortable leaders feature for offense, defense and special teams). Ethan Ecker, Roy — Had a dominating performance on both sides of the ball. He finished with 13 rushing attempts for 112 yards and two touchdowns while piling up 18 tackles on defense as the Royals rallied to defeat Kearns 40-35. Dakoda Kempthorne, Davis — Rushed for 103 yards on 29 attempts in the Darts’ 26-20 win over Syracuse. He also hauled in six catches for 29 yards through the air. Cannon DeVries, Weber — Scored three touchdowns, catching two and rushing for another, in Weber’s 63-27 victory over Clearfield. He finished with 144 total yards of offense as well as 10 tackles. McCae Hillstead, Skyridge — Ran for three touchdowns and tossed another three in Skyridge’s 44-2 victory over the Thunder. By the end of the game, he had 282 passing yards and 167 yards on the ground. Nate Bushnell, Stansbury — Had a monster game on the ground as he carried the ball 32 times for 184 yards. Stansbury utilized this to control the clock and pick up a 29-14 win over Tooele. Easton Schank, Cedar Valley — Totaled 227 yards, including 160 on the ground, as he led Cedar Valley to a 36-35 win over Timpanogos.
