The final season of « Lucifer, » the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards, specials dedicated to 9/11, « Malignant » and « Scenes from a Marriage » are some of the entertainment options streaming this weekend.
Sept.10 (UPI) — Lucifer finishes its run with a sixth and final season, MTV presents the 2021 Video Music Awards and multiple specials on the Sept.11 terrorist attacks will air this weekend. In addition, filmmaker James Wan returns with new horror film Malignant, Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain star in a remake of Scenes from a Marriage and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is an assassin in Kate. Here’s a rundown on some of the films, television shows and more that are set to be released this weekend. Films ‘Malignant’ — HBO Max Annabelle Wallis has visions of shocking murders only to later discover that they really happened in horror film Malignant, which comes to HBO Max and theaters on Friday. James Wan ( Insidious, Conjuring) is directing. Maddie Hasson, George Young, Michole Briana White, Jacqueline McKenzie, Jake Abel and Ingrid Bisu also star. ‘Kate’ — Netflix Mary Elizabeth Winstead is an assassin who has been poisoned and has less than a day to get revenge in this action thriller, which premieres Friday on Netflix. Winstead’s Kate also forms a bond with the daughter of one of her past victims. Woody Harrelson also stars in the film, from director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan. ‘Come From Away’ — Apple TV+ Apple TV+ presents this filmed version of Broadway musical Come From Away, which arrives Friday onto the streaming service.
