When they first appeared in “The Karate Kid” as an object of fascination for sensei Mr. Miyagi and, soon, his pupil Daniel LaRusso, fans might not have predicted the significance of the plant in the story to come. The bonsai tree perhaps made its most impactful appearance as a logo on Daniel’s gi during the tournament at the end of the original film.
