Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai said Sunday that she has never accused anyone of sexual assault, adding that a social media post she wrote last month was misunderstood. “First, I need to stress one point that is extremely important, I have never said or written that anyone has sexually assaulted me, I have to clearly stress this point,” Peng said in a video posted Sunday by Lianhe Zaobao, a Singapore media outlet ( via Reuters). When pressed further about the social media post that has since been deleted, she said “there are a lot of misunderstanding[s], so there’s nothing to say… about this interpretation and distortion.” Peng was attending a cross-country skiing exhibition in Shanghai as part of the run-up to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
