‘Tiger King’ Star Joe Exotic Resentenced To 21 Years In Prison For Murder-For-Hire Plot—One Year Less Than Original Term

The star of the hit Netflix show “Tiger King” was originally sentenced to 22 years behind bars in 2020 for trying to hire two men to kill an animal welfare activist Carole Baskin and abusing animals.
A federal judge resentenced Tiger King star Joe Exotic to 21 years in prison Friday, the Associated Press reported, a year shorter than his overturned original sentence for abusing animals and unsuccessfully plotting to kill an animal welfare activist. Maldonado-Passage’s attorneys said last month the former zookeeper postponed receiving treatment for prostate cancer until the resentencing. Maldonado-Passage was made famous by the 2020 Netflix documentary about him, Tiger King, which was streamed around 64 million viewers within a month of its release, according to Netflix.
