Yesterday, we learned that Sony is continuing PS4 production through 2022. It’s a different situation over at Xbox HQ, as Microsoft has already stopped production on all Xbox One consoles. This isn’t a new thing, either, as Microsoft has revealed that it stopped production on the final Xbox One model at the end of 2020. That’s what the company said in a statement to The Verge, at any rate. “To focus on production of Xbox Series X| S, we stopped production for all Xbox One consoles by the end of 2020,” senior director of Xbox console product marketing Cindy Walker said in that statement. Microsoft actually ended production of the Xbox One X and the all-digital Xbox One S in July 2020, a few months before the Xbox Series X| S launched in November of that year. By the time the end of 2020 rolled around, the only Xbox One console left to discontinue was the standard Xbox One S, and that’s precisely what Microsoft did.
