Recovery efforts are still underway in Florida and the Carolinas in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.
Rescue missions are also ongoing. Florida’s emergency management agency said more than 1,600 have been rescued across the state.
The death toll continues to rise to over 60, according to local officials. Most of the fatalities were reported in Florida’s Lee County.
More than 600,000 customers in Florida remain without power, according to PowerOutage.us. The storm also brought rain and flooding up the eastern United States coast over the weekend.
President Joe Biden is visiting Puerto Rico after Hurricane Fiona caused major damage and power outages weeks ago. Biden will deliver remarks from the island this afternoon at 2:45 p.m.
