A strong deadly earthquake of magnitude 7.8 in Turkey at 4:17 local time (01:17 GMT) on Monday near Gaziantep, a major provincial capital, collapsed dozens buildings and killed more than 70 people. Death toll is expected to rise. The tremor lasted about a minute. It was felt too in Cyprus, Israel, Lebanon and Syria, where damages were also produced. People in Damascus, and in the Lebanese cities of Beirut and Tripoli, ran into the streets.
