An update to Waze adds some fun new features including new pop star voice directions and voices based on the Zodiac.
Driving is supposed to be fun, right? So the latest update to navigation app Waze includes some fun new features designed to get some Google Maps users to switch to Waze. As you probably know by now, Waze is owned by Google as the latter paid $1.3 billion for the Israeli crowdsourced navigation app in 2013. Over the years Google has moved some Waze features to Google Maps.
So what is the difference between the two apps? Waze remains community based with crowdsourced traffic information still driving the app (pun not intended). Google Maps relies on data and also goes well beyond helping you safely and quickly get from point « A » to point « B. » Google Maps will help you find a place to stay once you’re at point « B » and will also show you places to dine.
