Starbucks has pushed back against allegations that it is banning Pride decorations at its stores, saying it encourages its store leaders “to celebrate the diversity of our partners and customers within their communities.”

Unionized Starbucks employees will go on strike across at least 150 locations nationwide starting Friday in response to the company’s alleged decision to stop the use of Pride month decorations and displays at its cafes, making the coffee giant the latest company to get drawn into the culture war fanned by the far-right over celebrating Pride month.Key Facts

Starbucks Workers United said over 3,500 workers from more than 150 stores—including the company’s flagship store, the Seattle Reserve Roastery—will go on strike over the next week.

The statement adds that the strike is over the coffeehouse giant’s “hypocritical treatment of LGBTQIA+ workers.
