Robert De Niro was supported by friends and family, including co-star Harvey Keitel, as he said goodbye to his grandson on July 6.
Robert De Niro and his eldest child, Drena De Niro, were joined by family and friends on Thursday, July 6 at the wake of Robert’s grandson and Drena’s son, Leandro “Leo” De Niro-Rodriguez, who died last weekend at the age of 19 after taking fentanyl-laced pills. In photos obtained by the Daily Mail that can be seen HERE, the 79-year-old actor was seen arriving at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel in New York City’s Upper East Side. Drena showed up hand-in-hand with Leandro’s father, artist Carlos Rodriguez, and Robert’s Taxi Driver co-star and longtime friend, Harvey Keitel, showed support with his wife, Canadian film director Daphna Kastner.
Drena, 55, announced Leo’s death on Sunday, July 2 via a gut-wrenching post to Instagram. “My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly. You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life. I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you,” her announcement message began. “I don’t know how to live without you but I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama .
