White Sox Land Nice Return From Angels For Lucas Giolito

Given that Lucas Giolito is a rental player, the White Sox did well to land 20-year-old catcher Edgar Quero and lefty Ky Bush in a trade for Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez.
After dangling Shohei Ohtani as a possible trade piece, the Angels reversed direction markedly on Wednesday. They first let it be known they are holding on to Ohtani in hopes of a playoff run, then they increased their chances of playing in October by adding two useful arms from the White Sox.
The Sox received a nice return for two pitching rentals in starter Lucas Giolito and swing man Reynaldo Lopez. Despite the short-term status of those two trade chips they coaxed the Angels to send them two of their top three prospects in 20-year-old switch-hitting catcher Edgar Quero and 23-year-old lefty Ky Bush.
Giolito returns to his hometown with a 6-6 record and 3.79 ERA in 21 starts. He slots into the Angels’ six-man rotation behind Ohtani, giving Phil Nevin’s 52-49 wild-card contenders six veteran starters for the stretch run.
