Chris Noth spoke out for the first time since being accused of sexual assault in 2021.
Chris Noth is speaking out. In his first interview since being accused of sexual assault, the former Sex and the City star told USA Today that he’s “not going to lay down and just say it’s over” in his career.
Just weeks after his character, Mr. Big, was killed off And Just Like That in 2021, two women came forward with scathing allegations to The Hollywood Reporter. One claimed she was sexually assaulted by Noth in Los Angeles in 2004, while the other said her encounter with the actor occurred in New York City in 2015.
In the interview with USA Today, Noth admitted to cheating on his wife — but alleged that any encounters were consensual.
“I strayed on my wife, and it’s devastating to her and not a very pretty picture,” he said. “What it isn’t is a crime.”
Noth married Tara Wilson in 2012 after more than 10 years of dating — meaning that he was in a relationship with her when the alleged incidents took place. The two share a 3-year-old and a 15-year-old, and have stayed together since the scandal broke.
“You give yourself the same excuses that many men do; it’s just a little side dance, and it’s fun,” he said, referring to how he justified what he claimed were affairs. “You’re not hurting anybody. No one’s going to know about this, you know, and sex is just enjoyable. And suddenly, a lot of people want to have sex with you. It’s like, ‘Well, I’m not going to get this chance again.’”
According to THR, one of the women claimed Noth had “raped” her, while the other alleged that he had forced her to perform oral sex on him.
