Warning: The following contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen 239, « Foolish Survivor » by Gege Akutami, translated by John Werry, and Lettered by Snir Aharon, available in English from MangaPlus.
Jujutsu Kaisen finally returned after break week and fans were incredibly excited to witness the manga continue the Culling Game arc. This arc has seen some of the very best fights in the entire story being illustrated and it has certainly been exceptionally fun for the fans. JJK chapter 239 saw many interesting surprises come the way of the fans, with the biggest being the battle turning away from Sukuna for once and focusing on Kenjaku.
The last few months in the manga have seen all the focus being thrown on the character that is Sukuna. Now, however, Kenjaku is being focused on once again after quite a long time and it appears that he has an interesting fight to take part in. Focus Away From Sukuna
JJK chapter 239 was expected to focus on Yuji, who just jumped into battle against Sukuna. Instead, the focus in this chapter of the story was Kenjaku. None of the fans expected this sudden change in scenery, especially because the story was getting very exciting on Sukuna’s end. Fans wanted the fight between him and Yuji to finally begin, with Higuruma also aiding in battle. Unfortunately, the story shifted focus away from that fight towards another front in the war and while it was unexpected, it was also very interesting. This aspect of the story is, in no way, any less interesting than the fight that Sukuna is currently taking part in.
This appears to be a way for Gege to save the best fights for last and, by the looks of it, Kenjaku will be focused on at the moment. It is unknown when the story will return to Sukuna, however, for now, fans have a lot on their plate to enjoy, especially the clash between some interesting characters, such as Kenjaku and takaba.
Sukuna will most likely not be a part of JJK for quite a while now. His fight will likely only be focused on after the battle between Kenjaku and Takaba concludes. As seen over the course of the last few months, battles could last over the course of many chapters and, for the next month, fans should fully expect the manga to keep its focus away from the likes of Sukuna and Yuji.
