Civilian deaths in Israel and Gaza have overtaken those in Ukraine, and are now far higher than those in even the mass-casualty wars on the African continent.
Some 11 000 people have now been reported killed in the four weeks of the Hamas-Israel war, 1 400 in the initial Hamas attack on Israel, and more than 9 000 in Israel’s strikes on Gaza.
