In one of the bloodiest days for Israeli troops fighting the war in Gaza, eight soldiers were killed in action on Saturday.
Another 6 were seriously wounded.
Since, and including the horrific Hamas attacks on 7 October 2023, a total of 485 Israeli soldiers have died in battle.
Despite the high death toll for the Israeli army, the day also saw the death of a large number of Palestinian militants.

The army does not distinguish whether the fighters killed are affiliated with Hamas or one of the other groups they are engaging with in Gaza.
