Brooklyn dug itself a hole and fell, 118-110, Tuesday to the league-leading Celtics before a sellout crowd of 18,053 at Barclays Center.
They got eviscerated by superstar Jayson Tatum, watching helplessly as he torched them for a game-high 41 points. They listened as the crowd — their crowd — showered him with chants of “M-V-P! M-V-P!”
And after it was done, he ripped off his shirt and strode off the court minus jersey.
He’d made himself at home in the Nets’ building. And when they tried to claw back, they never had answers to stop him.
Mikal Bridges had a team-high 27 points for Brooklyn, and Cam Thomas added 26.
But the Nets allowed 51.8 percent shooting, never able to slow the Celtics.
