Vikings Likely To Make Moves For J.J. McCarthy After Trade With Texans

It is fairly clear that the Vikings are going to draft a quarterback, and they now have the capital to move up.
The Vikings full plan for the 2024 season is starting to come into focus. They have picked up the Houston Texans’ first round pick, and that means they now have the No. 11 pick (their own) and Houston’s No. 23 pick.
It is fairly clear that the Vikings are going to draft a quarterback, and they now have the capital to move up. It is very doubtful they can move up into the top three. The division rival Chicago Bears are not going to give the No. 1 pick to the Vikings under any circumstances. Especially when they are about to select quarterback Caleb Williams of USC with that pick.
Washington and New England both need quarterbacks as well. They are likely to select Jayden Daniels of LSU and Drake Maye of North Carolina, respectively.
The best chance the Vikings have of moving up is to package the two picks and send them to the Los Angeles Chargers for the No. 5 pick so they can select J.J. McCarthy of Michigan.
After leading the Wolverines to the national championship, McCarthy’s draft status has shot up the board and he will likely be the fourth quarterback selected. He is far from a sure thing because he led a run-oriented offense at Michigan and making the jump to a high-level passing game is a major challenge.
