Isabel Clancy’s beauty sketch brought back memories of « the best makeup era. »
Let’s reflect on 2016: « Hotline Bling » is blasting on the radio, the streets are full of people playing Pokémon Go, and you can’t step outside without seeing a set of carved-out eyebrows.
For those unfamiliar, or lucky enough to have never tested the now « cheugy » trend, beauty lovers will share their memories of hours spent in front of a mirror trying to perfect the block-brow look that was popular at the time.
Trailblazers of the look may remember a period when not everyone could recognize the art and effort behind a carved brow—or the time spent perfecting the look. On TikTok, Isabel Clancy, under the handle @isabelclanc, shared such a memory in a video that has received more than 3.9 million views since she posted it on April 27.
Now considered a « wild era » for makeup, 2016 saw the power of influencers grow immensely, thanks in part to Kylie Jenner’s « King Kylie » era and the rise in popularity of the likes of James Charles and Jeffree Star.
