The bug, which could have allowed hackers to steal data and prevent reboots, is not Pixel-specific, but those on non-Pixels may have to wait for Android 15 to get the fix.
Pixel owners may want to keep an eye out for software updates. Google’s June 2024 security release for Pixel devices patches dozens of vulnerabilities, including one Google classifies as a high-severity security issue.
The update appears to address a pair of zero-day vulnerabilities that came to light in April. At the time, Google reportedly only released a “partial solution” in the phone’s firmware to fix the second vulnerability. But according to GrapheneOS, which initially reported the bugs to Google, the June update « is the 2nd part of the fix for CVE-2024-29748 vulnerability.
