Former President Donald Trump has accused Vice President Kamala Harris of antisemitism.
In a speech on Friday at The Believers’ Summit which was hosted in Palm Beach, Florida, by Turning Point Action, the campaigning arm of conservative group Turning Point USA, Trump said Harris « doesn’t like Jewish people. »
« Two days ago she refused to attend the speech in Congress of the prime minister of Israel. She said ‘Oh I can’t make it.’ It was just a small group of people but they couldn’t make it because that’s her original thought. That’s where she comes from.
« She doesn’t like Jewish people. She doesn’t like Israel. That’s the way it is, and that’s the way it’s always going to be. She’s not going to change », Trump said.
Newsweek has contacted the Harris and Trump campaigns via email for comment.
Harris is married to Doug Emhoff, who is Jewish. The vice president skipped Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to the U.S. Congress on Wednesday. Harris was traveling in Indiana during the speech.
She later met with Netanyahu privately, telling reporters after that she will « not be silent » over the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
