Jazz great Harry Connick Jr. is reflecting on his showbiz breakthrough with When Harry Met Sally as the movie celebrates the 35th anniversary of its release on Sunday.
Connick, of course, burst onto the national entertainment scene in 1989 when he recorded 11 song standards for the soundtrack of the classic romantic comedy starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan.
When Harry Met Sally debuted in theaters in limited release on July 14, 1989, before opening nationwide a week later, on July 21.
« I’d been making records since I was 9 years old and doing all kinds of stuff before that, but when that album came out, that was the first major event in my life, professionally », Connick told me during a Zoom conversation for his new Netflix original romantic comedy Find Me Falling.
