After canceling his world tour in 2022 to care for his mental health, Shawn Mendes returns to the music scene with a new album of songs rooted in his past few years of travel and reflection.
He said he’d be back, and today multiplatinum, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes announced his new self-titled album Shawn will be released October 18.
The Island Records album, Mendes’ fifth studio release, draws deeply from his travels and experiences during the past few years, following the cancellation of his 2022 tour. Lead singles “Why Why Why” and “Isn’t That Enough” will be released August 8. No news of a tour was forthcoming.
Two years ago Mendes took to Instagram to tell fans he needed to first postpone then cancel his Wonder: The World Tour in order to focus on his mental health. At the time he wrote in part: “I started this tour excited to finally get back to playing live after a long break due to the pandemic, but the reality is I was not at all ready for how difficult touring would be after this time away.
