There are plenty of reasons as to why Jujutsu Kaisen is regarded as one of the best Shōnen anime & manga of the moment. With one of them being its memorable cast of complex characters, from series protagonist Yuji Itadori, all the way to the mighty Satoru Gojo. And one of the most popular characters in the series is definitely Megumi Fushiguro.
Ever since his introduction back in the first chapter, it has been evident that Megumi is a smart and cold person who has an enormous sense of responsibility. Despite his “tough guy” façade, Megumi is actually a nice guy who knows how to read other people. That’s exactly why he said this to Satoru Gojo when discussing Itadori’s fate. He knew that, even if the prospect of awakening Sukuna was dangerous, he would try his hardest to let his new friend live at the same time.

One of Megumi’s biggest challenges was to confront Sukuna after the antagonist swapped bodies with Itadori. This is what he said to the King of the Curses right before their battle, showing that even when facing danger, Megumi knows exactly what his responsibilities are.
There are many reasons as to why someone may become a Jujutsu sorcerer and, in Megumi’s case, he believes that he has to use his immense power in order to save people from evils as big as Sukuna himself. Following his initial battle against Sukuna, Megumi keeps throwing around some of the most inspirational quotes in the series, stating how he’s determined to save as many people as he can, even if the world isn’t as fair as he wished.
Megumi’s life hasn’t been easy, so he knows exactly how unfair and cruel the world can be. But it’s encouraging to hear that he still wants to help people out as much as possible.
