Celtics to celebrate NBA championship at White House on Thursday

The champion Celtics will visit the White House on Thursday to be honored by President Joe Biden.
The Celtics proved they’re still the NBA’s top dogs Tuesday night with a gritty win over previously unbeaten Cleveland.
Next up on their schedule: one final public celebration of last season’s championship team.
Joe Mazzulla’s squad will visit the White House on Thursday to be honored by President Joe Biden.
“I think it’ll be cool,” said Jayson Tatum, who scored a team-high 33 points in the 120-117 win over the Cavaliers at TD Garden. “One of the perks of being a champion is going to the White House. You see most of the former teams attend, so we’ll have that moment and take pictures and videos. It’s something that’ll last a lifetime.”
The Celtics will be the first Boston team to make the traditional champion’s visit to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue since the Red Sox did so after their 2018 World Series win. The Patriots did not travel to the White House after their most recent Super Bowl victory in 2019.
