Documentation released today by Google shows that the Pixel 6 line will receive Android 16.
Here is some good news for owners of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The two phones launched in 2021 with three years of support which ended with the release of Android 15 last month. Or did it? According to Google’s own support documentation, the Pixel 6a, which was released nine months after the Pixel 6 line became available, will continue to receive Android updates through July 2025. Since Android 16 is expected to be released in Q2 of 2025, it can be assumed that the mid-range Pixel 6a will receive the Android 16 update.
The Pixel 6a runs on the same first-generation Tensor application processor (AP) as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro do.
