Newsweek asked OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Elon Musk’s Grok to predict what a Kamala Harris presidency would look like, as the artificial intelligence bots anticipate progressive social reforms and health care initiatives coupled with strong international alliances.
Both chatbots suggested an administration under the vice president could prioritize progressive reforms in social equity, health care, and economic policies while maintaining a strong stance on foreign affairs, particularly in supporting democratic institutions and addressing climate change.
ChatGPT and Grok suggested that a Harris White House would be marked by a blend of continuity with the Biden administration and the introduction of distinct initiatives reflecting her personal priorities.Domestic Policy: A Focus on Social Equity and Economic Reform
ChatGPT anticipated that the Democratic presidential nominee would « focus on social equity and civil rights », highlighting her « strong support for the Equality Act, which would extend anti-discrimination protections to LGBTQ+ Americans across employment, housing, and public accommodations. »
The generative AI chatbot mentioned her commitment to health care reform, predicting that she would propose « making insulin and healthcare more affordable » and « establish a National Health Equity Initiative to address health disparities affecting minority groups. »
Grok echoed this but dug deeper into economic policies. It suggested that Harris might address the housing crisis by « building millions of new homes and providing down payment assistance for first-time home buyers », potentially involving « both federal funding for housing projects and incentives for private sector involvement. »
On tackling inflation and the cost of living, Grok predicted she might « enact policies aimed at tackling price gouging, particularly in groceries, with a federal ban », and consider « expanding the Child Tax Credit. »
Both models agreed on Harris’s dedication to reproductive rights. Grok noted that « given her stance on abortion rights, one could expect strong support for laws protecting these rights, possibly pushing for federal legislation if Roe v. Wade remains overturned. »
ChatGPT added that the vice president has « shown commitment to economic policies supporting wage increases and expanded worker rights, aiming to raise the federal minimum wage and implement paid family and medical leave.
