President Biden has given his son Hunter a full and unconditional pardon for his two convictions of federal gun felony and tax evasion.
The president had made repeated claims that he would not grant his son clemency or interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making process. In his pardon statement, Biden said that his son had been singled out and that the cases were a « miscarriage of justice » and « infected » by « raw politics. »
Both of the cases against Hunter Biden stem from his previous struggles with substance abuse until he became sober in 2019.
