One of the most critically acclaimed movies of 2024, Sean Baker’s Anora is up for six Oscars, so Hulu adding it to its streaming lineup is a smart move. The flick follows the titular character, a young stripper living in Brighton Beach who marries the son of a Russian oligarch so he can get his green card, against his father’s wishes. Needless to say, things go south from there.Gannibal: Season 2 (March 19)
Based on a popular horror manga, Gannibal airs on Disney+ around the world but is a Hulu series in the United States, for reasons that will be obvious after you watch a single episode. When a police officer is given a new post in a remote village, he quickly discovers that shoplifting and loitering aren’t the biggest crimes he’ll have to deal with. Atmospheric, patient and grisly, this is a real sleeper that you should check out.Good American Family (March 19)
This new drama series is based on one of the most bizarre cases in recent memory. A young Ukrainian girl with dwarfism is adopted by an American family, who abandon her in an apartment because they claim she isn’t actually 8 years old, but rather 22 and pulling an enormous scam. There are twists and turns aplenty, but we won’t spoil them here. The show stars Ellen Pompeo and Mark Duplass as the parents.
