On April 10, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences officially announced a new category, finally honoring stunt performers and their work in the film industry.
The award for Stunt Design will first be presented at the 100th Academy Awards ceremony.

« Since the early days of cinema, stunt design has been an integral part of filmmaking », Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang said, per Deadline.
