Some Switch 1 Games Have Issues Running on Switch 2

Despite Nintendo Switch 2’s backwards-compatibility with games from the original Switch, there are exceptions that may face issues on the new console.
The Nintendo Switch 2 has revealed a long list of Switch 1 titles that may not run on the forthcoming console seamlessly at launch, owing to startup issues, hardware mismatch, and more. This caveat exists despite the Nintendo Switch 2 being backwards-compatible with games released for the original Switch.
For a console generation to last nearly a decade is no small feat and, thanks to unwavering sales performance, the Switch has remained Nintendo’s main console offering since 2017. During this period, it has received a plethora of major hits, including ones from fan-favorite franchises such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid. So, when the Switch 2 was confirmed to be backwards-compatible with games built for its predecessor, fans were relieved to hear the news. At that time, Nintendo had also stated that this would not apply to all Switch 1 games, and to that end, the console giant has now given some useful clarification.
