Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday that targeting Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, would bring an end to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, rather than escalate it.
Netanyahu’s remarks follow Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar saying Sunday on CNN that his country’s goal is not regime change even as Israel’s forces expand their strikes in Iran. Netanyahu and Sa’ar’s comments follow the revelation that President Donald Trump had vetoed Israel’s plan to target Khamenei over fears it would intensify tensions.
Netanyahu countered to ABC News’ Jonathan Kark, « It’s not going to escalate the conflict, it’s going to end the conflict.
