Nintendo Releases New Update for OG Switch Just Days Ahead of Switch 2 Launch

Nintendo Switch users have a new system update to download, as version 20.1.1 fixes an outstanding issue ahead of the Switch 2’s June 5 launch.
On June 2, Nintendo released version 20.1.1 of the Switch operating system, which addressed an issue that prevented some software from running after updating to the previous version 20.1.0. The original Nintendo Switch system update arrived just days before its successor, the Switch 2, is set to be released on store shelves globally.
The new Switch operating system update is the fourth one released since late April, starting with version 20.0.0. The late April Switch system update introduced the Virtual Game Cards system, which enables users to transfer select digital games between Switch consoles, with a few exceptions. Although most Switch games and apps can be transferred between systems as a Virtual Game Card, games like Tetris 99 that require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription are not eligible.
